Not at all. My approach is relaxed and centred around what is already happening rather than repeatedly stopping the day to manufacture photographs. I will offer simple direction when it helps, particularly during couple and family portraits, but you will never be expected to perform for the camera. Most couples quickly forget they are being photographed once they are back with their guests and enjoying the celebration.

Rain does not ruin wedding photography—it simply changes how we approach it. I will look for sheltered areas, interesting indoor spaces and short opportunities between showers. Wet streets and softer light can also create atmospheric photographs, particularly at Manchester city-centre weddings. We will work with the weather without allowing it to control your day.

Before the wedding, we will talk about your plans, the people closest to you and anything with particular personal significance. This helps me recognise the relationships and details that matter without working from an artificial list all day. I will still follow what happens naturally, but with a clear understanding of the people and moments you would be disappointed to miss.

Yes. A wedding story is built from much more than the formal parts of the day. I photograph the preparations, venue, guests arriving, reactions during the ceremony, conversations, speeches, details and evening celebrations. The quiet exchanges and unexpected moments between the main events are often the photographs that become most meaningful afterwards.

Yes. I use available light whenever it gives the scene the right feeling and introduce carefully controlled lighting when the conditions require it. The aim is not to make an intimate candlelit venue look unnaturally bright, but to preserve its atmosphere while keeping the people and important moments clear. For winter weddings, we can also plan portraits around the limited daylight without allowing photography to dominate your schedule.

That depends on the size and structure of your day. A second photographer can be valuable when preparations are taking place in different locations, when there is a large number of guests or when you want simultaneous perspectives during the ceremony and reception. It does not simply mean receiving twice as many photographs. Once I understand your plans, I will tell you honestly whether it would improve your coverage or whether one photographer is enough.
